Mahatma Education Society's Pillai Group of Institutions held a felicitation ceremony for its Best Achievers in the field of Sports and Environment and the inauguration of the newly constructed Indoor Shooting Range at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai's Campus, New Panvel, on 24th January, 2012.


The students were felicitated by the Olympian Shooter Ms. Suma Sirur and B. B. Nayak, Journalist and Multiple Guiness World Record Holder for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields at the national and international level. Ms. Sirur also gave us the privilege of inaugurating the Aim High Shooting Range by cutting the ribbon to open the shooting range. The shooting range is a state-of-the art six lane 10m rifle range. Both Ms. Sirur and Mr. B. B. Nayak had kind words of inspiration and motivation for our young athletes and environmentalists.

It was a wonderful event that saw MES's aspiring Olympians and environmentalists get recognized for the wonderful effort they have put in for their respective schools and colleges on the national and international level. The day concluded with the awards ceremony for the Campus Sports Day winners.

A felicitation ceremony was organized by the Pillai Group of Institutions on 24th January, 2012 at its New Panvel Campus to honuor its outstanding Sports Stars, who made their presence felt at National and International level. The sports stars were feted on this special occasion at the hands of ace shooter Suma Shirur in the presence of Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, chairman of the group, Dr. Daphne Pillai, Rector of the New Panvel Campus, B. B. Nayak, Senior sports correspondent, Times of India among other dignitaries.
Those receiving the honour included International Rifle shooter Ayonika Paul, International National Badminton player Riya Pillai and National table tennis player Shruti Talnikar, National medalist Taekwondo player Tejas Mali, National Jr. Athlete Tousif Shaik and Jr. National Volleyball player Vinayak Upadhyay and young Naturalist Aishwarya Sridhar, who won Asia-level prize in environment. Another two of its star sportspersons Cricketer Surya Kumar Yadav (IPL - Mumbai Indians) and National medalist in Gymnastics Yogesh Pawar, gave felicitation a miss due to unavoidable sports commitments.

Pillai's Group of Institutions cleared another milestone in sports by setting up another great infrastructure for Hi-tech-indoor shooting range to its students. The sports enthusiasts in the institution have a good reason to rejoice as this indoor facility for shooting is inaugurated on 24th January, 2012 by Ace shooter Suma Shirur and its start registration for coaching. The Range is a six lane 10 meters shooting range equipped with quality German Wealther Rifles to train its students.
