Uran wake up with Marathon bugle as thousands participated in Uran Marathon
Mahatma Education Society's Pillai HOC Educational Campus has organized 16th Uran Mini Marathon on 24th December 2017, a chilled morning at this coastal town. Thousands hit the road with enthusiasm and a slogan carrying
"Come on; Let us run together”. A massive crowed from 8 years to 60 years old participated in the run.
It is also a seen of unity among all class of the society with defence personnel and their spouses from naval units at Uran participated in huge numbers. The Mini-thon conducted in as many 10 categories of 2 km, 3.5 km, 7 km and 14 km.
It is the 16th Uran Marathon jointly organized by Pillai HOC Educational Campus, Rasayani and Uran Gymkhana. Cash prizes, certificates, medals and trophies awarded to the winners of all the categories by Mahatma Education Society. The marathon starts from pensioners park and went through various part of the city and concluded in the same ground.
Commodore M. L. Mathew, N. M. Senior Officer, Karanja & Commanding Officer INS Tunir present as a Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Earlier in the morning Mrs. Sayali Gharat, Chairperson, Uran Municipal Council flagged-off the race along with Dr. Mrs. Lata Menon, Dy. CEO Pillai HOC Educational Campus. Along with uran citizen a lot of fitness enthusiast and marathon athletes from across the state participated in the run.
