Thousands of people from 5 year old child to 65 year old veterans participate in the 15th Uran Mini Marathon organized by Mahatma Education Society's Pillai HOC Educational Campus, Rasayani in association with Uran Gymkhana at Uran on the morning of 4th December, 2016. There are 10 various distance runs for various age categories conducted in the marathon. This is probably the largest crowd ever participated in the Uran Marathon. There are hundreds of naval personnel from INS Tunir and Marine commandos from INS Abhimanyu also participated in the event.

The categories started from the age of under 8 years boys and girls (1 km), under 11 years boys and girls (2km), under 14 years boys and girls (5km), under 17 years boys and girls (7km) and open run for above 17 years men and women (14 km) conducted.

Around one lakh rupees cash prizes, mementos and certificates given away during the event for all first five positions of various run.

Newly elected Chairman of Uran Municipal Council Mrs. Saily Mhatre, Deputy CEO of Mahatma Education Society Dr. Lata Menon, Municipal Commissioner Uran, Circle Inspector of Uran and Director of Sports, Mahatma Education Society, Mr. Padmakshan Padmanabhan attended the event and gave away the prizes.
