Pillai Group of Institutions felicitated their Star Shooter Ayonika Paul, Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist
Pillai Group of Institution has given a warm welcome and felicitation to Ayonika Paul, Electronic Engineering student of Pillai Institute of Information Technology, Engineering, Media Studies and Research at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel on 1st August, 2014. Ayonika arrived at the college along with her parents after her Silver Medal Hunt at Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 was received by the students, staff and management at the college entrance and proceed to the felicitation venue with much fanfare.
Prominent personalities present at the function includes Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO, Pillai Group of Institutions., Dr. Daphne Pillai, Secretary, MES., Dr. Priam Pillai, Chief Operating Officer, MES., Mr. Franav Pillai, Dy. CEO, MES and Principal PIIT Dr. R.I.K. Moorthy.
Sports Director, Mr. Padmakshan Padmanabhan declared the award for Ayonika from Pillai Group which includes 20Gm Gold Medal, Rupees One Lac Cash Award, Free Scholarship for her entire Post Graduation Studies worth Rupees 2.5 Lacs and a memento.
The speakers at the function applauds Ayonika's efforts to keep her technical education par with sports as the preparation national camps for Commonwealth Games 2014 was at the same time of her B.E. Electronics examination. Ayonika who used to practise at Pillai Rifle Shooting Range - "Aim High" - addresses the press inside the range.
The sports director in his speech, emphasis how the sports can be played par with academics by sighting Ayonika as a role model. Many press people across Mumbai attended the function as it was the first Felicitation at Mumbai for a Commonwealth medallist 2014.

The Pride of Pillai Sports Ayonika Paul (BE-ERTX) student of Pillai Institute of Information Technology (PIIT) made the country proud by winning Silver Medal at Commonwealth Games 10 Mtr Rifle Shooting Championship at Glasgow (UK) on 26th July, 2014.
In the qualifying round she finished 4th with 413.2 points and made her entry into the final round. Ayonika fought back in the final round and adjudged second with 204.9 points. She just missed Gold Medal as the winner of the gold scored 206.7. |
